2009 - 2010 ABJ Game Club News and Philosophy
Philosophy
Here at ABJ we recognize that students all have different
interests and talents. The ABJ Gaming Club was created to ensure
that all students have a place to call their own and to be a
part of the ABJ family. Anyone and everyone is welcome to be
a part of the ABJ Gaming Club.
The Archbishop Jordan Gaming Club was started by Mr. Stephan Johnson
and Mr. Mike Joly. It allows students with other talents to express
their abilities and to interact with other students in a friendly,
positive manner while enjoying gaming against each other. This provides
students and staff an excellent opportunity to interact with a teacher
team and to interact with peers.
The entrance fee to become a part of the gaming club is $20. This
money is used to purchase games and equipment for the gaming
club. To become a member of the gaming club, you should see
Mr. Joly (room 209), Mr. Johnson (room 204), or Mr. Crosbie
(room 127) and you will be signed up upon receipt of the money.
Games will be played in Mr. Joly's and Mr. Johnson's room at
lunch and also after school in some cases.
Recent News
With the beginning of another school year comes another
fabulous year at the ABJ Gaming Club. Games that will be played
include Halo 3: ODST, Halo 3, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (possibly
part two), Rock Band 2, and other games yet to be determined.
There is also the possibility of another charity
fund-raiser...so listen to the announcements and be a part of
this amazing experience where we stress the Christian duties
of service to others and community.
2009 36-Hour Game-A-Thon for
Cerebral Palsy
Last year over spring break the ABJ Game Club put on a fundraiser
for the Cerebral Palsy Association of Alberta. Our original
goal was to raise $5000 as a donation to the CPAA. By the end
of the 36 hours, we had raised $2500 more than our goal for
a total of $7500.
We would like to thank the students
who raised the money and the staff who dedicated their time
to this worthy cause. Our success was 100% dependent upon your
effort.

2008 Halo 3 Tournament
The tournament was a total success. Despite the April snow storm,
we had 42 teams competing with each other for the $1500 first
prize. Thanks to all who helped out and participated. We hope
it was something you'll remember for a number of years with
fond memories.
We would like to thank the following
who helped ensure this tournament was a success: Microsoft, Blends,
Coca-Cola, Sorrentino's, Quiznos,. Edo, ABJ Parent Council, Mr. David Hay from Salisbury Composite High
School, Mr. Scott Matichuk and all of the teacher volunteers from
right here at Archbishop Jordan High School. You helped make this
event a huge success and we here at the ABJ Gaming Club are extremely
grateful.
